ISSUES

There are several issues that impact our daily lives in St. Francis. While there are several more than what's featured here, these are a few of the top priorities Mayor Tutaj has tackled and will continue to address in office. He's focused on keeping a strong sense of community and true accountability in the mayor's office.
Protect our environment and bring accountability to the barrel plant

(Promise kept)

In his first year in office, Mayor Tutaj brought cleaner air to the residents near the Mid-America barrel plant. City action encouraged the owners of the plant to install Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer equipment to virtually eliminate resident exposure to Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's) being discharged at the plant. "The new air emissions control system installed by Mid-American Steel Drum is expected to reduce VOC's by up to 99%." - Letter from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, May 23, 2019

Maintain true leadership in the mayor's office

(Promise kept)

St. Francis needs true leadership and proactive representation to lead the way and ensure we have what we need as a community. It's time we continue to look to the future and begin planning on what's to come. Mayor Tutaj has created a culture of support and admiration for St. Francis Fire and Police Departments to ensure every resident's safety, along with promoting cooperation without losing community identity.

Attract new business to our city

(Promise kept)

Under Mayor Tutaj, city building permits in 2018 and first half of 2019 exceeded the previous four years combined. Building permits lead to growth, and economic growth leads to a lesser burden on everyone's property taxes. Mayor Tutaj knows Milwaukee County is growing, and will continue to do all he can to attract and retain new businesses and home ownership.

Increase our tax base to lower our property taxes

Mayor Tutaj approved a development agreement for $38 Million in New Tax Base. The more businesses and new homeowners we attract to our city, the less we'll all be paying in property taxes. As mayor, I will continue to focus on expanding our tax base so everyone can feel tax relief across the city.
